Jim Brandle is the CEO of Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, a position he assumed in 2007 with start-up of the organization.

As a strong advocate for the horticulture sector, Mr. Brandle leads a team of over 85 research scientists and support staff in consumer and sensory research, horticultural and greenhouse production systems and applied genomics. Under his direction, Vineland has emerged as a leading centre for innovation and industry outreach. Mr. Brandle joined Vineland from his role at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as site leader for the Canadian Crop Genomics Initiative.

Mr. Brandle serves on the Boards of the Invasive Species Centre, the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance and Innoventures Canada (I-CAN). In 2015, he was appointed to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ Agri-Food Growth Steering Committee.

He received his Ph.D. in Plant Breeding from the University of Manitoba, and his M.Sc. and B.S.A. in Crop Science from the University of Saskatchewan. Mr. Brandle is also a graduate of the Ivey Executive Program at Western University.
